Sweet like...Candy!

Hi, dear all!

I'm Candy, from the LC of UIBE(University of International
Business and Economics) in Beijing, China.
Poland- a peaceful, beautiful country, the very image in my mind .

Today, after 14 hours long journey, I finally arrived in this
attractive land, my dreamy destination! On the first sight of Warsaw,
I have fallen in love with this land, the fresh air, the big smile
from polish people, the enthusiasm of AIESEC members of LC Poland.

I'm so eager and can't wait to visit this fatastic city-Warsaw, so
Paulina, the AIESEC member of LC Poland, took me around Warsaw, the
main street, Warsaw University, glorious former Building of the
University Liberary, the Church of the Holy Cross, all of these are
really great. During this process, the warm-hearted polish people
really impress me a lot. Since Paulina had exams, then I visited
Warsaw alone, it is quite a happy trip, all the people are so kind to
help me find my apartment, even some of them cannot speak English,
they still took me for a long way to make it more clear for me. I was
so moved by them.

Today is just a start for my internship, there will be more
difficulties in the following working days, but I strongly believe I
will do my best to overcome them and enjoy this great opportunity to
improve myself, do an excellent work!
Looking forward to cooperating with the other interns in MONAR!

Hey,guys!

I am Siwen, English name Sylvia, from Beijing China. It is my first day in Warsaw. Everything goes quite smoothly. I love this city. It is beautiful and everything is quite convenient.And most importantly, people are nice.

People here in U of Warsaw committee of AIESEC are all very nice and friendly. Marek picked me up at the airport and showed me my flat, which is cozy and clean. Ilona,a shining lovely girl, helped me get the ISIC card.People working in AIESEC are very active and energetic, I can easily see that. I wished them a splendid career in the future.

Later then I walked around the city center. I was supposed to go to the old city by myself, but I walked so far that I eventually went to the city center. But it was interesting and I saw many famous sights that printed on my tourist guide book. When I came back to the office, I was really tired.Yeah, really exhausted.Thanks to Marta asking me to write this first-day blog, so that I have some time to rest, otherwise I find it a bit hard for me to go home immediately, hehe.

Tonight Marta is going to get me some training and then I will be ready for my intership in Monar. I am supposed to teach them English and I think I can be a good teacher. I hope I can make more friends here and experience the unique polish culture.

I will spend the Spring Festival in Poland. That is the most consequential festival in China, the same like the Christmas you celebrate. It is the first time I will not be with my parents and relatives during the Spring Festival. However, I am not alone. I want to bring the happy and harmonious atmosphere here in Monar. I will make it a surprise. Just wait.

Hi all!!

This is Becky from the LC of Peking University in Beijing, China!

I am a Senior majoring in International Politics. There lies my strong interest in international cultural experience. Thanks to AIESEC, I am granted the golden opportunity to come to the amazing land of Poland. I am more than pleased to feel Poland personally in the coming 2 months. And I am excited too to work in the biggest NGO in Poland, MONAR.

Though creative and imaginative I have always believed myself to be, I could not at all figure out how fantastic my Polish experience as going to be like. The long journey to Warsaw was already a challenging as well as exciting adventure to a Chinese like me who had never travelled to Europe before. Upon my first day of arrival, I instantly fell in love with Warsaw. I like the smell of humid and freshness in the air. I am touched by the enthusiasm and the generosity of Poles. I cannot wait to eating more traditional food after the first delicious Polish breakfast I had. I look forward to explore more of Poland with the lovely AIESEC members and my MONAR companions-to-be.

All in all, I am confident to have an unforgettable Polish experience over the coming two months!

Hello in the Happy New Year!

Wow... it has been a long, long while since I, or anyone else, for that matter, has posted anything here. By accident a few days ago I also managed to erase some photos with one click of a button, so this will need some corrections.

Anyway! Happy New Year everybody!! :) I hope you live happy, long, healthy and prosperous lives!

So a quick update now would be appropriate :)

Me, Marta, became the OCP of Synergy Project in June 2007. The planning of the project and all its aspects began in the beginning of July, when all OCPs/coordinators and their coaches (mostly former OCPs and coordinators) went for the ATOM (annual take over meeting/conference). Shortly after that I went for my CEED to Sfax, in Tunisia, where I continued to perfect the project plans.

After coming back to Poland in September, I was able to sign more TNs with MONAR in October, and put them into the system a few days after that. Then university began again (yay), and, of course, AIESEC Week came, where we recruited over 70 new members. In the beginning of November, the Post-Recruitment Local Committee Conference (LCC) was held - and that is where I met my TEAM!

So ever since then there are six of us working on Synergy Project, my 5 wonderful OC members and I :) - check out the picture to see who we they are!!! (From the left: Justyna, Kasia, Sara, Tania, Bartek, Marta)

Anyways, now came January and our first trainee has arrived. Her name is Becky (Sauling) and she comes from AIESEC PKU from China!! Justyna and I picked her up from the airport on January 12th at about 9:30 PM, and that's when Becky got her first glimpses of Warsaw by night. By day she visited the Old Town in Warsaw (so worth seeing!) as well as had some prep trainings with Kasia and I.

I think that's enough jibber-jabber, coming up next: the first post from Becky. She is already in MONAR now and promised to keep us updated!!! YAY!!

Hi dear all,
I am Michael from Mainland China, one of trainees in Synergy Project. I have just finished my internship in Poland, which gave me a totally fresh experience in my life as well as treasure skills in AIESEC working. This is my first time in Europe, yet, also the first time that I have to stay abroad for such a long time alone. The Polish culture, landscape of Poland, and the warm-hearted Polish people impressed me a lot, thus I having made a lot of good friends in PolandJ During the internship, I have to design my daily work, try to adjust myself to adapt to the new environment, try to communicate with different kinds of people well, try to come over variety of difficulties that I have not imagined, which really made me become more mature.
Also, during the internship, I went to the church for the first time, learned to cook Polish food for the first time, drank Vodka for the first time… Such an internship will certainly broaden your horizon, give you courage and fresh your life. Therefore, don’t hesitate to try it, and try to improve it, let’s work together and make it better!

The time goes by and some of our interns have finished their internships but a new have come. Now we have 2 beautiful and smart girls from India: Aditi (in MONAR Gdańsk) and Michelle (in MONAR Łódź).

And how are our ex-trainees? This is a letter I've got from Arjun:

Synergy Poland 2007 is a project that taught me many things. Through this experience of a new culture not only did I come closer to learning that the unity of people is in diversity, but more importantly I saw that the problems faced by people even in different countries do not have geographical divide. And that is what makes us all basically the same. Drug-addiction is a bane on any society, be it European, Asian, African or American, and those who have to deal with its consequences face similar problems.
Through it I learnt to know myself better, made some new friends, and lastly did not lose this opportunity to discover a very beautiful country!! Poland is a very exciting place to be in and I would recommend to all doing an internship there, not to lose this chance to get to know this amazing country and its people better.
Here in India things are going pretty smoothly - I have gotten back to being among and working with Indians. Currently I am working as a Market Analyst for a research firm studying European markets. I'm back, but yes I do miss Poland and the xperience I had there once in a while.

Hi, everyone!

I'm Susan from Tianjin, China. After months of preparation work, I finally came to Poland. This is like a dream and I can't believe it is true. Many times I have seen Europe on the movies, and I like the beautiful scene and imagine the fantastic feeling of wondering on the street. And today I did it!

I like Poland, the air is so fresh here, and the sky is sooooo clear! This is very different from Tianjin and I thought maybe I'm in the world, which only exists in novels which has romantic stories of prince and princess. So it is like being in the fantasy world :)

I expect much of the other 59 days in Poland. Also I know there is great challenge just waiting for me. I have strong belief that I will overcome them and do excellent job. I believe I will make progress everyday during this two months in Poland.

Hi, @ers!

This is Michael from China. And I've just arrived at Poland for my internship. I hate to say it, I've got a bad cold after a long journey. Fortunately, I've received a good reception & entertainment. I wish I could recover soon so than I can show myself, a boy full of pasion, enthusiasm, perserverence & curiosity. I had a wide interest including arts, speach-making, music, movie, poetry and sports. I have only travelled Asia before and this is the first time I have been to Europe. I am glad to say that Poland and her people left me a good first impression. I am ready to make friends with you, to communicate with you, to experience new culture, to introduce my homeland, to show the unique things of myself. I hope and I am sure that the internship would be a good memory in my life :)

My introduction: Hi! My name is Arjun Chawla and I come from the land of endless flavours and many cultures.

Even then I must say that when I came to Poland I did not know what to expect!!! I knew that the language was difficult. I did have butterflies in my stomach, but I'm relieved to say that the LC-Warsaw has chased them away! I have even found some similarities between the Indian and Polish people: They both seem to have warm people!

Our first weekend with Interns :)

Hello all of you :)

As I wrote last time our Interns came in first two days of February. On Friday we have met them in our AIESEC office, but Michael and Susan were really tired because of 12 hours flight so they went straight to the apartment where they were staying for weekend.

On Saturday morning we started our training day. First of all short meeting with LCP (lovely Gosia :D) and shrt presentation about Synergy.

Than we had 2 hours meeting with manager of MONAR Association (Masza) you can read more about MONAR at www.monar.org.

Of course short lunch and than our OC member (Asia) made Culture Schock training, it was really interesting and in the end some time for goalsetting for internship :)

From this moment started our fun ;) We were cooking polish dumplings and than went to the party in Club '70.

On Sunday morning we went to MONAR Centers in Lódź and close to Lublin.

This is short info about our weekend :)

Tomorrow will be big day for Synergy TEAM 2007 :) There is comming our first intern Arjun Chawla from India :D He will be on the airport at 10.25. You don't even know what a great thing it is, when you can meet people who want to change the world in the same way as you.

And on Friday (9.00) there are comming Susan and Michael from China :) We will spend together all weekend in Warsaw and than guys are going to MONAR Centers in Lublin and Łódź (on Sunday).

On Saturday you will find their first impression about Poland on our blog!!!

Firstly I'd like to say something more about Tour de Pologne. Here is some info from polish eXchange community:

I hope that you can see something there, but btw you can read there that Synergy is first in race :) Hopefully the rest will be at least as good as first part. I hope that more and more OCPs of polish PBoXs will aplly for this, because it really motivates. And you can fell as a part of Tour de Pologne ;)

Next thing is about our interns: Susan and Michael (China) and Arjun (India), we hope to match one more TN before february, if you are SN and read this, we are waiting for you!!! We can promise great knowledge, experience and fun with Synergy 2007 TEAM :) (Look for some more info on community in www.aiesec.net SYNERGYPROJECT).

One more, interesting thing is that probably in winter holiday we are going for Student's Voluntary, we are planning to do some classes for children, about different cultures. For me sounds great :D

And as an OCP I'd like to say that I'm really proud of all members of my TEAM. I wasn't even dream about so unique and fantastic people!!! Thanks guys, that you are working so hard and effective!!!

Full of energy after Christmas we are getting to work!
Firstly we would like to proudly present us as the first leaders of Tour de Pologne contest organized by AIESEC in Poland. We applied for kilometers in overall planning process (aka. moving your bike faster) and we got 475 kilometers (500 is maximum!) so now we are in the middle of Poland! ;)
Secondly we will have 4 trainees, from the beginning of february, that will work in Monar.
We are waiting for You guys! ;)

TEAM day(s)

Hey You all guys!!!!

I'm sure that you are waiting for some news from Synergy ;) So I decided to write few interesting things.

First of all, last weekend we were in Izbica (near Warsaw) on TEAM day(s). We get there friday evening and ate dinner together and than... Great Karaoke competition :) You should see how our boys (Janek & Tomek) are singing... Guys you are the best :D

Than I fall asleep, because I was really tired, but my great OC was partying all night.

On saturday we start work at 11.00. Our "normal" ;P meeting, discussions about cooperation with NGOs in Poland, about our LOGO, Student's Voluntary etc. I think that it was good to do this, because each of us could say something about every parts of our project. Than we ate delicious sphagetti (thanks Jasiu) and we started to work on Synergy roll call :) Some of you will see the results on Lovely Christmas Conference :) And soon we will upload some photos, so you will know what Synergy Band is...

Now something about results of Synergy TEAM:

1. we have 2 SN Acceptance Notes (India and China) and waiting for one more from China :)

2. we already have great Synergy T-shirts

3. we are working on our grant (probably we will send it before Christmas)

4. we are talking with one NGO about trainings for AIESECers and students

That's all for today. Hopefully some member of Synergy OC will write something soon, about TEAM day(s) and LCC.

PS: And one more thing, unfortunately Magda Ptasznik is not any more in our Synergy TEAM. She doesn't have too much time, but helps us with grant (thanks a lot :)).

Because of ZIMKO (still waiting for some info about it), we didn't have our OC meeting on Friday... As normally we have. So I decided to do a meeting on Monaday in "restaurant" in fron of our University, called Mai Tai...

It was not the end of our problems, because when we get there, my computer broke :( Fortunatelly I didn't forget what I prepared (ufff...), so our meeting was effective, as always :p

Good news are:
- we chose logo of Synergy Project 2007 - I hope we will show it soon.
- we have some other (than MONAR) ngos which are interested in our trainship
- we changed dates of our meetings (now we will have it on Mondays :))
- and tommorow we will start our TEAM DAYs :)

So that is all form me for today, but don't worry we will write something for sure, after TEAM DAYS :)

As always our meeting was very productive:

Finaly we are designing our logo.
We created concept of Synergy Team T-Shirt, which is really cool.
We had really interesting debat about Alcohol vs Marijuana, which one is more
dangerous to use, how our culture influence our point of view on that topic.
And most important thing... Our Team Days are coming, we are going to sing, work and have fun!!!

First meeting - 5th November

So, 5th November was our first formal meeting... of course not too formal ;)

We started with some games to get to know each other better... And then we decided who will be responsible for what, so:

Next point in our Agenda was to write what kind of events we will have in our committee and in AIESEC Poland for next month.

Than I present every ways of contact in AIESEC which we will use, and now every if us has million mail boxes :) and we are reading almost 200 communities :p
We talked a little bit about coaching and trainings which we want to have from our Local Trainers Team.

New beginning on LCC :)

As a very proud OCP, I'd like to start from the beginning of Synergy Project 2007 TEAM.

Everything starts on LCC in small village near Warsaw. 27th of October - that was our new beginning :) We've met on first plenary on Friday evening, but we didn't know that we will work as a one team. First day we were all Leaders and Newees. Our first party, Halloween :) It was preety cool.
And than Saturday... Team Building Session and our first great meeting. We built great bridge. It was the most beautiful bridge I've ever seen :)

My expressions after first meeting??? It was awesome , I have really great TEAM. Now I'm sure that we will do the best Synergy ever ;) And what with expressions of other members of team? I hope they will write sth here :)

So now I'm real OCP and I can manage :)
